My name is Ashley Valenzuela. We're located in Desert Hot Springs, California. We manage single-family homes duplexes, as well as apartment complexes.
What does your company specialize in?
My company specializes in home rentals as well as apartment rentals. I first heard about DoorLoop from Software Advice, I was looking for a software to incorporate into our business in order to do things more streamlined and online versus on paper. And Software Advice recommended DoorLoop to me.
What made you switch to DoorLoop?
DoorLoop seemed really user-friendly not only for myself, but it seemed very easy and user-friendly for the tenants as well. And it had a really good price point.
What did you do before DoorLoop?
Before using DoorLoop. Everything was done by hand. Paper, pencil. Tenants would come in with a money order or check to pay their rent and we would give them a paper handwritten receipt, and then log it in a paper rent ledger.
How did the onboarding process go?
I was assigned Wesley who helped me right away. Anytime I needed help, he would schedule a Zoom with me or he would email me back immediately. He would also create little loom videos to walk me through a process whenever I needed help, I'd get an answer within five minutes.
What is your favorite DoorLoop feature?
My favorite feature on DoorLoop is the ability for tenants to pay their rent online and the rent payments to be trapped online as well.
How much time does DoorLoop help you save each week?
I believe DoorLoop has saved us about 20 hours a week. In my opinion.
What changed since you started using DoorLoop?
When we started using DoorLoop, it helps not only the tenants but it also helps myself. So now I don't physically have to be in the office during hours, which helps me tremendously because I do have a one year old daughter, so I don't have to physically come in the office every day from nine to five. I can do some work from home, work over the weekend. And then also it helps the tenants that work during our office hours now they can go ahead and pay their rent in the evening time when they get off work, on the weekend. The tenants don't actually have to come into the office, they can pay their rent online and request repairs online.
What’s your biggest piece of advice for new property managers?
The advice that I would give to other property managers and others in my industry is to not wait to do things that are new. I know it can be scary but you should just jump in just try it out because you never know where it can take you
